How to participate in the 2010 Ballhawk League
If you are someone that takes a glove to a baseball game hoping to catch a baseball then you are eligible to play in the 2010 Professional Ballhawk League. There will be 2 divisions in the PBL. You will have the Veteran division that will consist of Ballhawks 21 and over and then the Junior Ballhawk division that consists of Ballhawks 20 and younger!!
Best of all you don’t even have to sign up!! Since we follow MyGameBalls.com and also love reading MLBlogs we will find you! You can give us a heads up and let us know that you too want to be included in our league!
All participants must have either a MyGameBalls.com profile to keep track of their 2010 Ballhawking Stats or a MLBlog where they will write about each game that they attend for Ballhawking.
There will be awards for each division at the end of the season including Veteran and Rookie of the Year awards and the MVB (Most Valuable Ballhawk) aka Ballhawk of the Year!
We are even working on getting a sponsor for Ballhawk League Jerseys for all participants to wear during the 2010 season. So stay tuned as things are just starting to heat up!!

OTHER NOTES:
Many have asked me, emailed me or posted asking if there is already one Ballhawk League why am I starting this one. The 2010 Professional Ballhawk League is open to anyone that wants to join. A little competition in Ballhawking makes things more fun so why not do the same with a Ballhawking League.
Where the other “League” is based on the total number of balls caught and is without a point system. Out league will have a point system and will be all about the caught/chased down ball. If you look at the point system you will notice that you get two and a half times the points for a caught ball vs. a thrown ball. Why?? This is because based on the averages from last season the “average” Ballhawk has 2.5 balls thrown to him/her for every 1 that is caught/chased down.
Game Home Runs are the ultimate catch and are set with 25 points. Foul balls, ground rule doubles and overthrows that count as game balls will get you 8 points. 3rd out balls will have a value of 3 points each because while it is a thrown ball it is still a game ball so you essentially get 1 bonus point for that. “Easter eggs” aka found balls will count as 1 point each. We all run into the park hoping to chase down or find balls that were hit into the stands before the gates open.
So this is not meant to be a league to replace the original one it is simply a league that puts more emphasis on the catching and chasing down the baseballs. The one thing that we don’t want is our Ballhawks to run over other Ballhawks and fans this season. We are working on the official “Ballhawk Ethics” for the 2010 PBL which will come from suggestions of Ballhawks all over.
Last but not least a little info on the 2010 PBL All Star Party. This is already in the works, while Ballhawks will be responsible for their own travel and MLB All Star Game tickets we will have a lot of fun events planned for the Saturday and Sunday before the All Star game. This will include the East vs West Ballhawk All Star Softball game, a buffett dinner after the game and a few more fun things that will be announced later.
Please feel free to leave your comments on what you think should be included in the 2010 PBL Ballhawk Ethics code of conduct. You can also leave any other comments or questions you may have regarding the 2010 PBL
